Normality is just a point in time. We are in such a strange place, so many gold posts have shifted personally as well as in the workplace. Uncertainty is our opportunity, because nothing stands still everything is connected in some way. In this fascinating and compelling pod/videocast with Neil Usher, Chief Workplace and Change Strategist at GoSpace AI we discuss his new book Elemental Change and how this period is a fantastic opportunity, we have to capture the energy of uncertainty and do some amazing things. We have nothing to fear from change, change is our essence and we should embrace it and be comfortable with it to make amazing things happen.
We need to develop a closer relationship with change, change is part of our essence, we are living breathing change, we are adept at dealing with change, we are built to navigate uncertainty. We need to recognise that in ourselves. In workplaces, they are engines to prevent change, to keep things fixed, stopping interesting and creative things happening. Just think in the llast global recession we saw some fantastic outcomes in the way the workplace developed. Neil hopes also that this period of introspection will make us more comfortable with change, confident in dealing and thinking about change, and appreciate uncertainty so we can navigate to a better way of working and living.
Observing nature and its changes can also help us accept change, perpetually of change, it is all around us, signal and clues are all around us. We discuss evolution, adaptation vs adoption, enabling people to change themselves. We also discuss his excellent “hexagon” change operating system and his 9 Elements of Change, laid out like an elemental table.
