Our Ambassadors are part of the growing community helping to shape the future of Biophilic Design.
Many of them recognised the importance of the Journal of Biophilic Design from its earliest days and have supported us from the beginning—sharing ideas, opening doors, contributing their expertise and helping us reach new audiences.
They represent the breadth of Biophilic Design itself: from academics and researchers to healthcare professionals, psychologists, landscape architects, architects, designers, consultants and industry leaders across many different sectors.
We are enormously grateful for their continued support. They understand that the future of design cannot be shaped by one profession alone—and that the conversation about people, nature, health and the places we create belongs to all of us.

Clare Bowman is a chartered architect, sustainability and biophilic design advisor, and Founder and Director of RCZM. She is an RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winner and has worked across sustainable architecture, biophilic design and installation, as well as teaching sustainable architecture.Professor Derek Clements-Croome — Emeritus Professor, University of Reading
Professor Derek Clements-Croome is Emeritus Professor of Architectural Engineering at the University of Reading, with more than 45 years’ experience spanning intelligent buildings, sustainability, health and wellbeing and environmental engineering. He founded the MSc in Intelligent Buildings at Reading and is a leading researcher and author in intelligent and biophilic buildings.Alex Tosetti — Founder, Cities Reloaded
Alex Tosetti is the founder of Cities Reloaded, a platform focused on smart cities, urban regeneration, technology and collaboration between cities, designers and technology providers. He brings a particular focus on connecting emerging technologies and innovative ideas with urban development opportunities.Enrique Soler — Area
Enrique Soler is Design Director for Major Projects at Area, where he leads a multidisciplinary design team. Formerly Head of Design at Willmott Dixon Interiors, he is a passionate advocate for biophilic and regenerative design and is particularly interested in moving workplace design beyond conventional sustainability towards spaces that actively support people and nature.Kenneth Freeman — Purposeful Places
Kenneth Freeman is a biophilic design and interior landscaping consultant with more than 30 years’ international experience in the industry, including senior technical and innovation roles with major interior landscaping companies. His work focuses on applying the principles of biophilic design to create healthier, more stimulating and human-centred environments.Joanne Leach — University of Birmingham
Dr Joanne Leach is a Research Fellow in Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham and Executive Manager for the UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities. Her research focuses on urban liveability, sustainability and resilience, particularly the relationship between the built environment, infrastructure and wellbeing, and she has written and spoken extensively about biophilic cities.Ian Drummond — Ian Drummond Botanical Design
Ian Drummond is an award-winning interior landscaper and biophilic design specialist with 40 years’ experience, known for high-profile installations for organisations including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, BAFTA and London Fashion Week. He is a plants@work Ambassador and advocate for the role of plants in creating healthier, more connected workplaces and interiors.Mark Catchlove — MillerKnoll / Herman Miller
Mark Catchlove is Director of the MillerKnoll Global Insight Group, where he leads the sharing of the company’s research and thinking on workplace design around the world. With more than 40 years in the industry, including 27 with MillerKnoll, he is a well-known commentator on workplace culture, wellbeing, collaboration and human-centred design.Jan Goodman — Green Plants for Green Buildings
Jan Goodman is Owner and President of Cityscapes and President of Green Plants for Green Buildings. With four decades of experience in horticulture, she specialises in plantscaping, living walls and the use of plants and biophilia to enhance the built environment, and is a regular speaker to architectural and property professionals.Paige Hodsman — Ecophon
Paige Hodsman is Concept Developer for Offices in the UK and Ireland at Saint-Gobain Ecophon and an office acoustics specialist. With a background in commercial interior design and environmental management, she has worked in commercial design since 1997 and is particularly recognised for her research and expertise in psychoacoustics, workplace wellbeing and the impact of sound on people.Will Knight — Material Matters
William Knight is co-founder of Material Matters and an advocate for material innovation, sustainable design and the role materials can play in reconnecting people with nature. His career has included a transition from politics into the world of design, where he works to make material innovation more accessible and inspiring.Steve Edge — Salvedge Sustainable Design
Steve Edge is a commercial interior designer and academic with more than 40 years’ experience. Through Salvedge Sustainable Design, his work brings together interior design, sustainability and education, with a particular interest in how materials and design can contribute to healthier and more responsible environments.Catie Ryan Balatgas — Terrapin Bright Green
Catie Ryan Balatgas is an Associate Partner at Terrapin Bright Green and one of the recognised voices in biophilic design for health and wellbeing in the built environment. She has played a leading role in developing and promoting influential work including 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design and The Economics of Biophilia, helping translate research into practical design strategies.Bill Browning — Terrapin Bright Green
Bill Browning is a Founding and Managing Partner of Terrapin Bright Green and one of the foremost thinkers in green building, real estate and biophilic design. He founded Green Development Services at Rocky Mountain Institute, helped establish the US Green Building Council, and is co-author of Biophilic Design, Nature Inside and 14 Patterns of Biophilic Design.Martin Hurn — Futurebuild
Martin Hurn is Event Director at Futurebuild, where he leads one of the UK’s major platforms for innovation, sustainability and transformation in the built environment. He has been instrumental in developing Futurebuild’s programme around net zero, circular materials, retrofit, regenerative design and emerging technologies.Jennifer Bryan — ABChange Consultancy
Jennifer Bryan is Founder/Chief Empowerment Officer of ABChange Consultancy, with more than 25 years’ experience in organisational change and people-centred leadership, working with organisations including Microsoft, Gartner and Barclays.Jean Hewitt — Buro Happold
Jean Hewitt is Technical Lead in the Inclusive Environments team at Buro Happold and an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL, with more than 25 years’ experience in accessibility and inclusive design. She was the Technical Author for BSI’s PAS 6463 Design for the Mind: Neurodiversity and the Built Environment and contributes extensively to inclusive design standards, guidance and research.Sue James — Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG)
Sue James is a chartered architect and founding member and Convenor of the Trees and Design Action Group. She has worked in private practice on sustainable buildings and has spent much of her career advocating for the role of trees and green infrastructure in creating healthier, more resilient and liveable urban environments.Nick Grayson — Biophilic City Consultant
Nick Grayson is a former Climate Change and Sustainability Manager at Birmingham City Council and a longstanding advocate for biophilic cities and nature-based urban development. He played an important role in Birmingham’s development as a biophilic city, particularly in demonstrating how nature, green infrastructure and natural capital can contribute to healthier and more resilient urban environments.Simon Corbey — Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP)
Simon Corbey is Executive Director of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products, having previously served as its CEO for around 15 years. A Chartered Surveyor with a Masters in Architecture and Advanced Energy and Environmental Systems, he has worked extensively on sustainable materials, low-carbon and healthy buildings, policy, knowledge transfer and industry engagement.
